Public Sector People ispartnering with a local council in Western Sydney to recruit a Coordinator Communications Services on a 12-month contract.

About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to lead the delivery of corporate communications and strategic public relations initiatives. This role will see you overseeing complex communications and media projects, providing expert advice to senior stakeholders, and ensuring consistent, high-quality messaging across multiple channels.
You will drive the development and implementation of detailed communication plans, manage media enquiries, identify potential media risks and opportunities, and oversee the creation of engaging content including media releases, speeches, newsletters, website copy and social media content.
Working within a small, multi-skilled team, you will play a key role in planning, executing and evaluating communications strategies that support organisational priorities and community engagement outcomes.
Do you have: - Tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field
- Demonstrated experience managing corporate communications and strategic public relations
- Strong project management experience, including overseeing complex communications and media initiatives
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a broad range of stakeholders
- Proven experience developing, implementing and measuring detailed communication plans
- Experience preparing and overseeing communications materials across traditional and digital platforms
- The ability to identify media risks and opportunities, manage media enquiries and develop media statements
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- A Class C driver’s licence
- A valid Working with Children Check clearance number (or the ability to obtain one)
Experience within Local Government will be highly regarded.
