Our client is a local council seeking an experienced Social Media & Content Officer to join their Communications team on a 6-month temporary contract.

This is a hands-on opportunity for a digital communications specialist who can take ownership of social media channels, develop engaging content and provide strategic advice across a large, diverse organisation.

About the Role
You will play a key role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s digital presence, including:
  • Developing and implementing a social media strategy
  • Managing corporate social media channels and day-to-day content
  • Creating engaging written, visual and video content for digital audiences
  • Supporting digital campaigns and broader communications initiatives
  • Monitoring social media trends, community issues and audience sentiment
  • Providing advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on social media best practice
  • Developing content for websites and other online channels
  • Tracking and reporting on social media performance and engagement
  • Supporting broader communications activities including campaigns, publications and emergency communications when required
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to plan and deliver effective communications
About You
You will be a confident digital communications professional with:
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media for a medium to large organisation
  • Strong writing, editing and content creation skills
  • Experience developing and delivering social media strategies
  • A strong understanding of digital communications and audience engagement
  • Experience creating content across multiple formats, including video and photography
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to provide specialist communications advice
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing deadlines and use initiative
  • Experience managing or contributing to complex websites
  • Local or State Government experience highly regarded
A relevant qualification in communications, journalism, media, digital content or a related field will be highly regarded.
