As a Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, cost-effective and quality construction, maintenance and upgrade works. You’ll lead and support both office and field teams, engage subcontractors, and ensure work is delivered to a high standard.
You’ll also contribute to detailed condition assessments and prepare tender documentation, cost estimates and construction programs, all while ensuring strong workplace health and safety practices are in place.
Key Responsibilities - Plan, supervise and support the delivery of building and maintenance projects.
- Lead and mentor office staff, field staff and subcontractors.
- Conduct condition assessments and prepare cost-effective project estimates.
- Ensure all work complies with WHS legislation and the departments Safety Management System.
- Assist with WHS audits, inspections, and safety documentation reviews.
- Prepare and manage high-quality tenders, trade packages and construction programs.
- Collect building material samples (e.g. suspected asbestos) and ensure proper handling/testing.
- Maintain strong communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Drive continuous safety improvement across work sites.
Successful Candidate - Understand how their work contributes to broader department and government goals.
- Demonstrate clear, respectful and open communication—both written and verbal.
- Are organized and proactive, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Show strong judgement, technical ability, and attention to detail in their work.
- Have a sound knowledge of WHS obligations and promote a safety-first culture.
- Bring specialist trade, construction, or supervisory experience.
Mandatory & Desirable Requirements - Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction (White Card) – required
- Current Driver’s License – required
- Willingness to undertake regular travel, including overnight stays and occasional light aircraft use – required
- Construction industry-related trade qualification – highly desirable
- Strong computer and digital documentation skills – desirable
