Communications Officer | Temporary Contract

An opportunity is available for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to join a busy and supportive Communications team on a short-term contract.

This role would suit a communications student close to graduating or someone looking for an entry-level position in local government.

Location: Eastern suburbs of Melbourne
Rate: $40 per hour + super
Contract: 23 September – 14 November 2025

Key responsibilities:

Provide administrative support to the Engaged Communities team, including processing invoices, raising purchase orders, and coordinating procurement.
Assist with content creation and monitoring of social media, digital channels and eDMs.
Coordinate and proof advertising material, manage the image library, and support interviews and content for publications.
Act as the first point of contact for communications enquiries, delivering prompt and professional service.

About you

Diploma or Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, PR or related field (or nearing completion).
Strong administration, attention to detail, time management and writing skills.
Confident communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders effectively.
Flexible and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities.
Experience with Office 365 and Microsoft Teams is desirable.
