Mid-Western Regional Council is seeking an Asset Engineer to join its Asset Management team based in Mudgee.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer looking to build a career in asset management while working across one of regional NSW's largest and most diverse infrastructure portfolios.
Reporting to the Asset Management Coordinator, you'll help develop Asset Management Plans, improve asset data, support long-term capital planning and work closely with operational teams to improve the way Council manages its infrastructure.
While previous Local Government asset management experience is valued, Council is equally interested in candidates with strong engineering fundamentals, analytical thinking and the ability to learn. Training and mentoring will be provided for the right person.
The Opportunity
This is a varied role combining engineering, data analysis and long-term infrastructure planning.
Working across roads, drainage and other civil assets, you'll help improve asset management systems, develop maintenance strategies, support capital works planning and ensure Council has the information needed to make sound investment decisions.
You'll work closely with engineers, operational managers and field teams, gaining exposure to TechnologyOne and broader asset management practices while contributing to continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
This role would suit an Asset Engineer, Civil Engineer or emerging engineering professional looking to build a career in infrastructure asset management.
Council is open to experienced asset professionals, engineers from consulting or construction backgrounds, and high-quality graduates with an Australian Civil Engineering degree.

- Analyse asset data to support evidence-based decision making.
- Contribute to engineering investigations and infrastructure projects where required.

- High level of computer literacy.
- Current Class C Driver Licence.
