Public Sector People are working with a Queensland State Government Department to recruit an AO8 Team Leader – Procurement and Contract Management to join their team on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.

The Team Lead, Procurement & Contract Management is responsible for all procurement activities undertaken by the Department, to support the delivery of high-quality services. The role will partner with senior internal & external stakeholders to manage the development & implementation of procurement programs and contract/supplier management activities and will develop and implement policies, procedures and training material in accordance with all relevant legislation, including the current Queensland Procurement Policy.
We are seeking a Senior Procurement Leader who can demonstrate the following key capabilities within the scope of the role:
- Executive Procurement Management: You have extensive, senior-level experience in directing and executing major procurement programs and activities across a large, complex, and geographically dispersed organization.
- Strategic Advisory: You possess the proven ability to influence strategic planning and consistently provide expert, high-level advice on complex procurement, contract management initiatives, and related programs.
- Team Leadership & Agility: You are a highly developed leader who can effectively manage, mentor, and develop staff. You thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, successfully coordinating a significant workload while balancing competing priorities and limited resources.
- Advanced Communication & Influence: You demonstrate superior communication, negotiation, consultation, and collaboration skills. This includes a proven ability to conduct thorough research and produce high-quality correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Stakeholder & Client Focus: You exhibit a strong commitment to high-quality client service, actively demonstrating this through your attitude and behavior. You have a track record of building and sustaining productive relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Innovative Problem Solving: You possess highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a clear focus on delivering innovative and cost-effective procurement solutions.
- Ethical Workplace Commitment: You are dedicated to implementing and upholding practices that foster a fair, ethical, and safe workplace, including promoting employment equity and cultural diversity.
Key Skills: - Highly Regarded: Formal qualifications or training in government procurement and contract management, law, and/or business management are highly desirable (though not mandatory)
- The successful candidate must have experience leading a team
- Travel & Licence: The role may require official intrastate and interstate travel. A current C class driver's licence may be required.
