AO7 Communications Officer
for a full‑time temporary contract through to October 2026, with potential to extend!
This role is ideal for a Senior Communications professional who enjoys working in fast‑paced, high‑profile environments and is confident providing strategic advice, developing compelling content, and supporting complex stakeholder landscapes.
As the AO7 Communications Officer, you will work within a collaborative Communications and Engagement function, contributing to the planning and delivery of integrated communication activities across media, digital, internal and external channels. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and play a hands‑on role in shaping clear, consistent and audience‑focused messaging.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide high‑level strategic communications advice to senior leaders and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver communication strategies, plans and key messages across multiple channels.
- Produce high‑quality written content including media responses, speeches, briefs, web copy and stakeholder communications.
- Support proactive and reactive media engagement, issues management and reputation management activities.
- Coordinate communication activities across internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and consistency.
- Manage competing priorities and tight deadlines in a fast‑paced government environment.
- Contribute positively to a collaborative, professional and outcomes‑focused team culture.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior communications role, ideally within government or complex, highly regulated environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences.
- Proven experience providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage sensitive issues, deadlines and competing priorities with confidence.
- Experience across media, issues management, stakeholder engagement or strategic communications is highly regarded.
- Proactive, adaptable and comfortable “hitting the ground running.”
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or valid working rights.
Benefits:
- Full‑time temporary contract through to Oct 2026, with strong potential for extension
- $87-95 per hour + Super (depending on experience)
