are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a Queensland Government agency on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide comprehensive financial and accounting support services, playing a key role in ensuring the effective and efficient management of financial resources.

- Hourly Rate: $79.00 per hour plus super
- Location: Brisbane CBD
What you'll be doing
- Supporting the Finance Manager in preparing budget submissions, reports, and briefing materials on financial matters
- Coordinating financial activities including monthly business reports, journals, general ledger reconciliations, fixed assets, accounts receivable and payable
- Assisting with Annual Financial Statements and external audits
- Preparing and submitting Payroll Tax returns, Long Service Leave and Annual Leave returns, BAS, and FBT returns
- Preparing and submitting Tridata reporting (actuals and budget) and assisting with State Budget Papers
- Maintaining up-to-date financial policies and procedure manuals and coordinating related training
- Assisting with procurement and purchasing activities in line with Queensland Government requirements
- Supporting building lease and facilities maintenance matters as required
What you'll bring
- Demonstrated experience in a government or public sector finance environment, with a strong understanding of financial management frameworks and accounting standards
- Solid experience with month-end processes, general ledger reconciliation, and financial management systems
- Proven ability to provide specialist financial advice to executive teams on budgeting and financial management matters
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — able to explain complex financial information clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders
- High attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and financial management information systems
- Well-developed resilience and tact, with the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- CPA or CA qualification (desirable)
