Public Sector People are working with a fantastic QLD State Government Department to recruit an experienced AO6 Senior Finance Business Partner. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring the financial sustainability of critical services within the state.
As the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will be a key advisor to divisional and cost centre management. Your expertise in financial performance reporting, budgeting, and forecasting will directly contribute to achieving high-quality, financially sustainable outcomes. This is a 6-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension for the right candidate.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level business partnering support on financial and FTE performance, enhancing financial, operational, and departmental outcomes.
- Lead the divisional budget cycle, ensuring accurate and timely completion in line with departmental guidelines.
- Actively participate in monthly performance review meetings, providing insightful variance analysis and identifying key opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present regular full-year forecasts, flagging potential financial risks and developing recommendations to maintain budget integrity.
- Manage and provide oversight of Service Level Agreements and funding arrangements.
- Collaborate with a range of multidisciplinary staff and executives to review financial performance and inform business decisions.
- Contribute to the mentoring and coaching of junior finance team members.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in a similar Senior Finance Business Partner role, preferably within a large, complex organisation.
- Exceptional skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- A strong ability to build effective relationships and communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Experience working within a government environment is highly regarded but not essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce, or Business is highly desirable.
- Professional registration (e.g., CPA, CA, CIMA, or ICA) is highly desirable.
