Public Sector People are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Advisor – Asset Accounting for a major Queensland Government agency. This AO6 contract role offers the opportunity to contribute to high‑quality financial governance, asset accounting, and continuous improvement within a large and complex public‑sector environment.
  • Contract until 31st July 2026
  • Hourly Rate: $79.16 per hour plus super
  • Location: Brisbane CBD
About the Role

You will deliver accurate, compliant, and timely asset accounting services, ensuring strong financial stewardship.

This role is suited to someone who thrives in a high‑performing team and is passionate about continuous improvement, data integrity, and delivering high‑value financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high‑quality asset accounting services ensuring accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with legislation, government policies, and accounting standards. 
  • Coordinate asset valuation and indexation activities, ensuring valuation accounting processes are completed on time. 
  • Perform quality assurance over non‑infrastructure and operational asset records.
  • Provide specialist advice on asset accounting principles, frameworks, and processes across simple and complex tangible and intangible assets.
  • Contribute to business improvement initiatives, including re‑engineering and digitisation of financial processes to enhance efficiency. 
  • Support asset‑related improvement projects, such as land and building initiatives. 
About You

You will bring:
  • Demonstrated experience in asset accounting within the public sector, including compliance with Non‑Current Asset Policies and relevant Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to drive accountability and influence financial outcomes. 
  • The ability to build collaborative working relationships with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Experience providing accounting advice for both simple and complex tangible and intangible assets. 

Highly desirable:

A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, and/or membership with a recognised accounting professional body.
