Public Sector People are working with a Queensland State Government Department to recruit an AO5 Senior Finance Officer on an initial 5 month contract. About The Role:
Sitting within the Financial Accounting team under the Corporate, Strategic Investments and Enterprise Finance business group, you will play a key role in supporting the department's financial reporting obligations. Working closely with the Manager, Financial Accounting, you will contribute to month-end processes, financial statement preparation, and the smooth operation of the team's day-to-day functions.
Your Responsibilities: - Prepare detailed movement schedules, lead schedules, reconciliations and note disclosures to support the March hard close and Annual Financial Statements
- Prepare, review and approve key month-end journals and reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner
- Review GR-IR reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Prepare GPEVS for Bulk Accounting billing across multiple service providers
- Assist with banking and receipting processes including BPoint refunds
- Manage and prepare the Quarterly Gifts and Benefits Register for publication
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, guidelines and systems to support sound financial reporting
- Provide information and policy advice to Business Groups and Senior Management
- Provide guidance and support to team members to achieve team goals and objectives
- Participate in projects and ad hoc tasks as required by the Financial Accounting team
To Be Successful You Will Have: - Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, ideally within a government or large complex organisation
- Strong working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA — this is highly desirable and will set your application apart
- Experience preparing financial statements and supporting hard close processes
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
- A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Accounting and/or membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants ANZ (highly regarded)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear, non-technical advice to stakeholders
- High attention to detail with excellent planning and organisational skills
