About the Role:

Public Sector People are currently seeking an experienced AO3 Legal Support Officer for a contract role within a high-performing government legal team. This position offers an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality secretarial and administrative support within a legal environment, working closely with legal professionals and the Executive Legal Secretary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality and timely secretarial and administrative support to legal professionals.
  • Proof billing narrations and assist with meeting financial deadlines.
  • Format complex legal documents using Microsoft Word and PDF applications.
  • Prepare legal briefs, routine correspondence, and ensure timely document flow.
  • Coordinate travel and accommodation arrangements for legal staff.
  • Maintain databases and information systems including Excel, practice management, and case management systems (VisualFiles).
  • Manage diaries, organise meetings, distribute agendas and minutes.
  • Compile, review, and action reports as required.
  • Maintain effective filing, records management, and document retrieval systems.
  • Ensure legal expenses and counsel fees are paid in accordance with procedures.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive and confidential issues.
  • Contribute to continuous service improvement and provide client-focused support.
  • Support the induction of new legal team members, including IT and admin coordination.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements within the legal team.
About You:
  • Prior experience in legal secretarial or administrative roles, preferably within government or legal settings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, document formatting, and data entry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
