Public Sector People are partnering with Fraser Coast Regional Council to appoint an Airport Manager — a critical leadership role responsible for the strategic management, operation and development of one of Queensland’s fastest growing regional airport networks.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing operational asset, overseeing both day-to-day airport operations and long-term commercial growth, while playing a key role in a major multimillion-dollar terminal redevelopment and broader regional economic strategy.
  
The Role

Reporting to the Director Economic Development & Advocacy, you will lead the performance, safety, and commercial outcomes of Fraser Coast Airports, including the region’s primary commercial hub at Hervey Bay.

This role combines operational leadership with strategic growth, ensuring the airport remains compliant, commercially viable, and positioned to support increasing passenger demand and regional expansion.
You will:

• Lead all aspects of airport operations including safety, compliance and security
• Drive business development, revenue growth and commercial partnerships
• Manage airline relationships, including negotiation of routes, fees and incentives
• Oversee operational and capital budgets and financial performance
• Lead a team of airport operations professionals and foster strong team culture
• Work closely with capital works teams on a multimillion-dollar terminal upgrade
• Build and maintain relationships with airlines, contractors, government and community stakeholders

This is a highly visible leadership role with direct influence on regional connectivity, tourism and economic growth.
  
About You

You are an experienced aviation professional with a strong background in airport management, ideally within a regional or growing airport environment.

You bring a combination of operational expertise, commercial acumen and leadership capability, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and drive long-term outcomes.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated experience in airport or aviation management (essential)
• Strong understanding of CASA, ASIC and aviation regulatory frameworks
• Proven experience in airline negotiations and commercial partnerships
• Experience managing operational and capital budgets
• Strong leadership capability with experience building and supporting teams
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Ability to operate in a high-responsibility, highly visible role

Experience in regional airport environments or growth-phase infrastructure will be highly regarded.
