Public Sector People are currently seeking an experienced and motivated
Access to Information Officer
to a Western Sydney council. This role plays a key part in ensuring the public has timely and accurate access to Council-held information in accordance with the
Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).
4-month contract
$42ph + super
January start date
Key Responsibilities
- Process formal and informal information access applications in line with the GIPA Act and Council service standards.
- Research, retrieve, review and appropriately redact Council records in both electronic and hard-copy formats.
- Assist with the timely processing of subpoenas and support the General Counsel as required.
- Collate information for NCAT matters and attend court hearings when necessary.
- Maintain weekly and monthly statistics and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and codes.
Essential Criteria - Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in access to information services, including redaction of personal information.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including:
- Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009
- Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998
- Copyright Act 1968
- Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (NSW)
- Local or state government experience highly regarded.
