Public Sector People are working with State Government organization here in Brisbane who have seeking an AO5 Senior Safety Advisor to join their Operational Safety team - Safety Advisor experience in road maintenance, construction, or a similar field. 

The role:
  • AO5 Senior Safety Advisor
  • ASAP START

  • Pay from $68 per hour + 12% super
  • Weekly pay
  • Initial 6-month contract + extension
This role is perfect for a WHS Advisor who likes getting out on site, talking with people, and making a real impact. You’ll be building relationships, supporting teams, and helping drive safer outcomes.

If you prefer a desk-only role, this probably isn’t the one for you.

What you will be doing:

  • Conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure compliance for delivered work.
  • Provide WHS&E advice and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, and legislative compliance.
  • Assist with the worker rehabilitation and return to work programs, under the guidance of the RRTW Advisor or WHS Manager.  
  • Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of WHS programs, systems and processes, ensuring alignment with legislative and public sector requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring and analysing WHS data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and support evidence-based decision making.
  • Assist with the development, review and implementation of SWMSs, risk assessments, and WHS Management plans
  
About you:

  • We are seeking a capable and values‑driven safety advisor with strong knowledge and experience in civil construction and transport infrastructure practices
  • Leads by example and sets clear expectations for quality and performance.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion while working independently or in teams within agreed priorities.
  • Maintain accurate records, seek feedback to continuously improve your performance, and know when to ask for support to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Ability to negotiate and apply conflict resolution skills to influence outcomes at all levels.
Requirements:
  • Predominantly Day Shift 6am-6pm, but dictated by priority projects may require late shifts
  • Safety Advisor experience in road maintenance, construction, or a similar field
  • Relevant qualifications and experience
  • Accurate reporting, record‑keeping, and evidence collection
  • Applicants must possess a current White Card.
  • Available ASAP
