About the role: The role is responsible to undertake a range of activities to identify and plan for existing and future demands for Council and community assets, and to prepare strategic plans to reflect these needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing statutory and land use plans to ensure growth is appropriately scaled and located, and delivers community benefits for Council.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of Council’s framework of land use controls to deliver sustainable built outcomes for the community.
Develop, implement and review land use plans and strategies, planning proposals and statutory instruments to inform decision making in line with contemporary standards and legislative requirements.
Undertake a range of activities such as preparation of project briefs to achieve required outcomes within agreed project scope.
Undertake research and analysis to provide timely and accurate expert advice, reports and briefs on land use planning matters, including funding options, to inform decisions.
Build effective working relationships within Council, government agencies, and the community to achieve Council goals.
Engage and manage consultants and contractors as required, and review performance to ensure service delivery requirements are met.
Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
Work in collaboration with and assist the team, manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities.
Key Skills Required:
Tertiary qualifications and experience in a relevant field.
Balancing community expectations, staffing and resources and government requirements in a politically sensitive environment.
Delivering value for all stakeholders in an ethical, social and environmentally responsible manner.
Maintaining up to date knowledge of the latest developments, initiatives and legislative requirements within the industry.
Local government experience highly advantageous
