About the role: Purpose of the role is to provide strategic planning advice for the operation and management of planning system activities undertaken by Council, including planning proposal, local infrastructure contributions framework, planning certificates and other matters related to the role. Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the assessment of planning proposals in accordance with local and State Government planning frameworks.
Manage the operation of the local infrastructure contributions framework, including the contributions register, annual reporting, allocation of funds and regular reviews.
Coordinate the negotiation and execution of Voluntary Planning Agreements or related mechanisms.
Manage the operation of efficient and accurate provision of planning certificates.
Undertake activities associated with planning systems as required by the organisation.
Provide the Executive Manager with regular reports regarding the status of activities undertaken by the team.
Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and continuous improvement programs for planning systems procedures and policies.
Represent Council in relevant committees, panels, hearings, professional forums, conferences and public meetings.
Provide high level technical advice to the public, senior management at Council and Councillors on a comprehensive range of planning matters.
Key Skills Required:
Relevant qualifications in a related discipline or equivalent experience
Professional experience working in either urban planning, development or building, or in a related field
Experience in managing teams in a fast paced environment, including people, operations, financial and risk management
Demonstrated high level analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
Proven ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment
Highly advanced written communication, verbal communication, interpersonal and computer literacy skills
Sound knowledge of NSW planning and building policy and legislation
