Job Description

Public Sector People (PSP) is seeking a Senior Accountant that has strong technical and people skills. Lead a team of 10 Accounts Officers (AR/AP/Banking) through the EOFY with delegation of duties and providing leadership and technical support to the team. You will be reporting to the Coordinator Financial Services and working in tandem with the rest of the Finance team to ensure that the Council’s objectives for reporting and auditing are met at the highest standards.

  • Local Council in Western Suburbs
  • $47-50 p/hour + super
  • Mid-June start till Aug 2022, with potential of extension/permanency

What you’ll deliver
  • Administer effective controls on all financial transactions, including segregation of duties, reconciliations, performance reporting and compliance to council policies.
  • Provide a high level of support to other accounting/reporting functions and customer service to other internal and external customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and technical support to members of the team to achieve team objectives/KPIs, and proactively identify and drive process improvements.
What you’ll bring
  • CPA/CA qualification
  • Demonstrated years of experience in supervising and delegating work to a team
  • Previous mid to large-scale organisation experience
  • Public Sector experience highly regarded but not necessary
