Public Sector People (PSP) is working with a Local Council in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne to source for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant who is keen on honing and improving their leadership skills. You will have 3 direct reports and will be working closely with the Finance Manager. As EOFY comes along you will be there to direct the team with statutory reporting and audit preparation. Local Council AND/OR TechOne experience will be mandatory for this role.

• ASAP Start till end Oct 22, potential extension
• $57-63 p/hour + super (incl. casual loading)

What you’ll deliver

• Accurately prepare the Standard Statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flows and Capital Expenditure) report for inclusion in the quarterly management report to Council.
• Coordinate Council’s external auditors to ensure an accurate and timely year-end audit process
• Prepare and complete acquittals and statistical returns to relevant bodies in consultation with Managers to ensure legislative compliance
• Reconcile the financial database to maintain the accuracy and integrity of information, investigating and reporting on budget variances and major discrepancies and providing information for reporting

What you’ll bring

• Previous Council experience OR TechnologyOne (FinanceOne) knowledge mandatory
• High level skills in statutory reporting and reconciliation
• Experience with year-end audit management
