Public Sector People (PSP) are currently looking to speak to Statutory Enforcement Officers within the Planning and Building environment to start full time, permanent opportunity within a Local Government.

About the role:
  • Permanent - Full time
  • Band 6
  • Local Government Experience Desirable
General Duties Include:
  • Investigate and action complaints relating to Building matters
  • Carry out site inspections to determine whether Building/Planning legislation is being complied
  • Investigate, issue and process Notices
  • Prepare and provide prosecution briefs in relation to enforcement matters for the Municipal Building Surveyor’s consideration, action and referral to Council’s legal practitioners
  • Appearing as required on behalf of Council at the Magistrates Court
  • Attending to complaints in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Maintain awareness of changes in relevant Acts and Regulations
  • Update the Authority complaints register and provide reports
Requirements include:
  • Successful completion (or near completion) of the Degree or Diploma of Building Surveying.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2006 
  • Demonstrated experience with building inspections and/or enforcement
