About the role:
The purpose of this position is to lead the delivery of projects throughout design and construction in accordance with the scope, timescales and budgets defined within the Client's Initiation Brief and in accordance with the City's governance framework.

The purpose of this position is to lead the delivery of projects throughout design and construction in accordance with the scope, timescales and budgets defined within the Client's Initiation Brief and in accordance with the City's governance framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that clear baselines for scope, cost and program are confirmed with the client mand project team prior to commencement of work and that stakeholder consultation/management activities and requirements are adequately planned to achieve the agreed project objectives.
- Working with the Manager Professional Services to establish a ‘best for project’ approach in the selection of project teams, ensuring that experience, skills and qualifications of team members are relevant and appropriate for each project.
- Identify potential gaps in skills or resources and work with the Manager Professional Services to ensure no detrimental impact on project performance. Provide the Manager Professional Services with feedback on performance of assigned project staff.
- Monitoring and tracking the progress and status of each project. Support the project managers in the development and implementation of appropriate and timely risk mitigation and corrective actions to maintain budget and schedule. Provide timely and accurate reporting to highlight risks to delivery.
- Maintain and improve high levels of health and safety throughout project lifecycles and contribute to a zero harm work environment.
- Ensure that all work is adequately planned and risks appropriately assessed and managed in order to protect the health safety and welfare of workers, asset users and third parties throughout design, construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure assets.
- Actively seek opportunities to apply best practice in delivery from project management, technical and business perspectives. Promote the development of a ‘learning organisation’ through seeking feedback and implementing lessons learned across projects.
- Coaching and supporting Project Managers to grow delivery capability and technical excellence within the City Projects and Property Division.
- Comply with and keep abreast of any relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position.
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Building or a related discipline, including eligibility for registration as a member of the respective professional association.
- Significant demonstrated experience in managing a diverse range of projects with a strong understanding of contract and commercial principles. Including sound commercial awareness and track record in driving multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects and sound understanding of the typical risks to efficient and effective delivery of projects.
- Awareness of industry recognized project management terminology and best practice (such as PMBOK or similar) and its practical application across projects.
