About the role 
Based in Tallabudgera, this position is offered on a 9-month contract, with full time hours. Possible 12 month extension to follow. 

The purpose of the role is to provide strategic internal and external communication services on community engagement, public affairs, correspondence, media relations, issues management, and stakeholder relationship management across a variety of regional infrastructure projects. You will represent the interests of the department and its stakeholders in all forums. You will also provide high level media, communication and strategic advice to the Executives on a range of communication activities.

Duties include, but not limited to
  • Lead community and stakeholder engagement activities for road infrastructure projects in the region, including providing project managers with ongoing strategic communications advice, and developing and implementing communication strategies.
  • Lead the implementation of community engagement, community relations and correspondence programs by supporting the delivery of consistent and effective communication and stakeholder management across the region to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the project team and communication and correspondence staff to identify communication issues and develop and implement proactive measures for issues management and communication activities.
  • Play a key role in major and/or sensitive matters such as: planning studies (particularly integrated planning studies) and construction and operational impacts (for example, traffic management) of the project, by developing and implementing risk analyses, issues management and communication strategies.
  • Provide strategic advice and expertise to management and communication teams and other project staff on risk assessment, issues management, communication strategies within the department, executive correspondence
  • Review and comment on communication and media material, consultation plans, stakeholder/engagement plans and other material and obtain relevant departmental approvals prior to implementation. Review and monitor compliance with all communication, media and stakeholder contractual requirements under the project documents and provide relevant advice to project team.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the works program and major project activities and proactively identify trends and risks in communication issues that may affect the project.
About you;
  • A degree in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing would be highly desirable.
  • Experience in major project environments and social media competency, will also be highly regarded.
  • IAP2 or equivalent training in community engagement.
  • Construction White Card (can be obtained)
