About the Role:

Public Sector People are currently seeking a Property and  Projects Officer to join our local government client in Strathpine . This is a 6 month contract, with probability to extend, and we are seeking someone who has previous Property experience in Queensland. Legal skills in this area would also be highly regarded.

The Property and Projects Officer is responsible for optimising the commercial utilisation or community outcomes of Council land holdings in line with legislative requirements, and organisational and community expectations

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide expert advice to the Property Services department on commercial property matters, land use and transactions and the utilization of Council land holdings.
  • Develop consultant briefs and administer land related expressions of interest and tenders.
  • Engage and supervise a range of consultants as is necessary to deliver well researched and comprehensive business case documentation for consideration by council for disposal of surplus council land parcels.
    Develop a strategic land disposal program for endorsement by council and facilitate the disposal of council land parcels to ensure that the return to ratepayers is maximised.
  • Investigate and action delivery models for attracting private sector investment for the development of council’s strategic land holdings as determined by the strategic land disposal program.
  • Develop constructive relationships with key stakeholders including business organisations, government agencies, incorporated associations and private sector development entities.
  • Manage and negotiate commercial and complex leasing agreements for council.         
Key Skills: 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Property/ Law or relevant industry and/or extensive experience in a similar role requiring a similar skill set.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation relating to property acquisition, disposal, and leasing.
  • Demonstrated people and relationship skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service.
  • Excellent time management skills to achieve proficiency and effectiveness in managing conflicting priorities and meeting deadlines.
