Job Description

About the role: 
PSP have partnered with our local government client to recruit X2 Project Manager’s for cycleway projects in Sydney CBD. The successful candidate will have a civil background and experience in road/streets projects would be highly desirable. Projects will be managed from developing business cases to construction and completion. Experience in dealing with Transport for NSW and Traffic Committee’s would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • The position will be required to manage capital works mainly civil projects and include management of both internal & external staff, consultants and contractors.
  • The position will work across all project phases Including initiation, design, documentation, tender and procurement, construction commissioning and finalization.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within time, cost, safety, environmental and quality expectations including agreed programs and budgets.
  • Manage the day to day implementation of projects including:
  • Assess risks and prepare appropriate mitigation plans in collaboration with relevant parties for approval, including risk management plan, WHS and Environmental Management Plans;
  • Identify and prepare Project Plans, manage relationships, decision making, expectations and delivery of outcomes;
  • Review design against pre-determined limits of time, cost and quality, and identify areas for change and implement recommendations to maximise project outcomes;
  • Manage preparation and coordination of tender documentation and process to achieve accurate and competitive pricing in accordance with the City’s Procurement Policy and the Local Government Act;
  • Negotiate and administer contracts, including evaluation of progress claims, variation claims, extension of time claims, and performance monitoring;
  • Investigate and manage compliance conditions with all relevant authorities to avoid any delays to projects;
  • In conjunction with contractors, inspect works in the field to ensure that the desired intentions and quality are being achieved and take remedial action where necessary;
Key Skills: 
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience in Project Management including the planning and delivery of capital works projects in the public and/or private sectors;
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects to meet expected time, cost, quality, safety and environmental targets;
  • Sound communication ability and experience in achieving good relationships with clients, stakeholders, consultants and contractors.
  • Sound knowledge and proven experience to manage project risks, finances, and undertake contract administration
