Job Description

About the role: 
The successful candidate will develop and deliver catchment management plans. Additionally, provide solutions to complex and interrelated issues around flooding, water quality, water sensitive urban design (WSUD), creek ecological health, biodiversity, amenity, natural resource management, creek rehabilitation and maintenance within the catchments of Local Government (LGA) area.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and deliver catchment management plan.
  • Provide technical advice in the areas of catchment management planning, water quality improvement initiatives, water quality monitoring, creek restoration and develop community education strategy/program to foster WSUD initiatives in private and public lands.
  • Monitor ecological heath of waterways and wetlands, provide solutions to complex and interrelated issues with water quality, creek health, biodiversity and amenity.
  • Provide expert advice in the development and implementation of environmental restoration program (ERP) including restoration of riparian zones and bushland areas to improve the ecological health of our creeks, rivers and bushland areas.
  • Contribute to the development of long term strategic policies and programs associated with catchment management to agreed service standards and the delivery of outcomes in accordance with Council’s Community Strategic Plan, Delivery and Operational Plan.
  • Contribute to the development of “best practice” in catchment management by giving consideration to political sensitivities, amenity, environment, community expectations and other risk management issues.
  • Successful development, acceptance and implementation of catchment stormwater management projects and programs by ensuring effective liaison, consultation and communication and developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation.
  • Undertake pre-tender/quotation in accordance with Councils Procurement Policy, as well as WHS project Hazard identifications and Risk Assessments of relative work activities associated with allocated projects as necessary.
Key Skills: 
  • Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering, Environmental or Natural resource related field. 
  • Current Class C Driver's License
