About the role: 
Public Sector People are seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join our local government client on a 12 month contract. The successful candidate must have previous experience in a design office and also have Project management experience working in local government.

Key Responsibilities: 

• The ability to develop and implement a vision for the pro-active and positive development of Council’s Building and Engineering Services
• Understanding and experience with designing water sensitive urban design, particularly with bioretention systems and detention basins
• Project management experience ideally in a design office
• Experience in dealing with the government, statutory authorities and consultants
• Liaise with and advise developers, architects, planners, engineers, designers, government agencies, etc. With regards to engineering stormwater information and clarifying council’s requirements in accordance with council’s engineering development guidelines.
• Provide timely and accurate engineering stormwater advice and recommend appropriate conditions in the assessment of development applications to town planners, building surveyors and engineers.
• Conduct or supervise major flood studies and trunk drainage investigations, reporting on findings and recommending appropriate course(S) of action or options to provide the community with cost-Effective, environmentally sensitive stormwater drainage systems.

Key Skills: 

• Experience in project management and corporate software preferably MS project, excel, technology 1 and trim.
• Degree in civil engineering
