Procurement Coordinator
Short Term Temporary Assignment
Local Government - North West

  • Monday 3rd February - Friday 1st May
  • 3 Months / Band 7 / 38 hours a week
General Duties:
  • Ensure that all procurement activity complies with all relevant legislations, codes and Council policies and procedures 
  • Review and provide advice on tenders for goods, services and works and maintain the Contracts Register
  • Coordinate the online procurement system ensuring compliance with Council policy and procedures, the provision of training for staff, managing and reporting of budget officer delegations and provision of reporting
  • Coordinate Council’s vehicle fleet by making strategic decisions in relation to and in accordance with Council’s motor vehicle policy
  • Coordinate the corporate purchase card system and the labour hire managed system including monitoring and reporting on their use and provision of training for staff
  • Administer the contract for the purchase of items that are controlled centrally including furniture, mobile phones and stationery
  • Provide general advice to staff on the National Competition Policy
Key Selection Criteria:
  • Tertiary qualification (degree minimum) in business or procurement with relevant experience or extensive experience in a procurement and contracts environment
  • Proven knowledge and experience in end-to-end procurement and contract management processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including high level written and oral communication, with the ability to relate across all levels of employees
  • The ability to participate in the development, implementation and review of procurement policies and procedures to achieve continuous improvement
  • Ability to demonstrate innovation and flexibility in seeking and encouraging the adoption of change which will be of benefit to the organisation and its customers
  • Ability to support and provide training to Council staff in procurement requirements and associated matters.
