Job Description

Public Sector People (PSP) are currently looking to speak to a Procurement Business Partner to join a Local Government on a temporary basis.
  • Monday 31st August - Friday 27th November
  • South Eastern Suburbs
  • $800 - $900 per day 
  • Police Check & Working with Children Check Required 
Key Responsibilities
    • Liaise and collaborate with internal and external business stakeholders to understand, problem solve and seek information relating to Technology contracts and procurement
    • Identify, record, and maintain the Technology contract records and database, provide advice, and guidance on best practice in procurement within Local Government
    • High level of understanding of OH&S and Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, WorkCover and other insurance types in relation to works, goods and services procured via tenders and quotations and the engagement of contractor
    • Develop a framework for the department to strategically assess contracts prior to renewal, with an aim at optimising return on investment and meeting legislative requirements
    • Assist with developing governance processes and controls around managing contracts (preferably aligned to COBIT 5)
    • Collaboratively develop operating procedures and processes for the department to prevent unnecessary expenditure through improved procurement and contract management documentation
    • Develop standard reports highlighting the priority of contracts for Technology Management
Key Requirements: 
  • National Criminal History Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Consultative approach with a collaborative style
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in local government public tendering process, panel arrangements (MAV, State Government), agency contracts, quotations, contract conditions and specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to take on accountability for complex pieces of work and to work autonomously
  • Knowledge of the Local Government Act, relevant legislation and guidelines that relate to procurement
