Opportunity:
I am working in partnership with a Local Council located in the beautiful tropical North Queensland. We are looking for experienced Principal Lead to lead a diverse and experienced team across Civil, Open Space, irrigation Engineering, Design and Planning. 

The purpose of the Principal Lead will provide expert technical advice and direction on the condition, performance, risk, lifecycle cost and remaining lives of various infrastructure assets, including development of the annual and ten year capital works plan based on the condition, performance, risk, lifecycle cost and remaining lives of various infrastructure assets, in order to achieve sustainability in business performance.

Duties will include but not limited to:
  • Ensure that the Asset Management Section delivers on co-design of services with the community, a whole-of-Council approach to integrating service delivery, and an innovative view of Council’s long-term opportunities.
  • Management of individual team members including development of performance plans, supervising and mentoring of professionals
  • Lead and coordinate the outcomes of planning investigations to prepare project justifications reports, preliminary cost estimates and work programs for inclusion in the 10 year capital works plan and coordination of design delivery.
  • Manage with team members the engineering advice for the infrastructure and operations division and provide engineering advice to other teams such as Operations.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of system plan and technical standards documentation.
  • Develop and maintain of civil, open space, and irrigation systems to enable staff to utilise for long term and operational scenario planning, including management of consultants and contractors.
Requirements include:
  • Territory Degree (Bachelor of Engineering or Science equivalent) and eligibility for corporate membership of Engineers Australia.
  • RPEQ Certification, or ability to obtain within 12 months of appointment (Highly Desirable)
  • Current Queensland “C” class driver’s licence
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the Civil Engineering Industry or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
  • Experience in understand and interpret technical documentation and codes in relation to civil, open space and irrigation assets
  • Understand the risks to civil, open space and irrigation infrastructure
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills across all levels, including other authorities and contractors
