About the position:
As the Municipal Building Surveyor, working in partnership with the Manager of Development Services, you will be responsible for the identification of issues of importance to the community as well as the development and implementation of programs that raise awareness and increase compliance within Statutory Building regulations.

As Team Leader the position will provide leadership and guidance to the Statutory Building Unit and foster a positive culture focussing on strong teamwork and continuous improvement. 

As the MBS you will be responsible for all statutory obligations under the Building Act, including overseeing enforcement of the building legislation within the municipality and ensuring statutory recording and reporting functions are undertaken in an effective and timely manner.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Registration as a Building Surveyor – Unlimited as issued with the VBA

  • Excellent leadership, communication and time-management skills

  • A customer-centric approach with the ability to foster and drive relationships across a wide range of stakeholders
