Public Sector People are currently inviting applications for the role of a Manager of Governance, Compliance and Risk to join a Council in Melbourne's regional outer north.

POSITION OBJECTIVES

To ensure the achievement of corporate objectives in regard to good governance, compliance, risk management and information management
  • Leading the Governance and Information Management Team to provide outstanding levels of customer service to Council employees, Councillors, general public and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure the highest standards of democratic and corporate governance and compliance are achieved and maintained;
  • Oversight of Council's Audit and Risk Advisory Committee and Council's internal audit function;
  • Managing Council’s risk exposure through the implementation of an effective Risk Management Framework and by building “a risk aware culture” within Council;
  • Oversight and continuous improvement of systems and processes for records management, including requirements set down by Public Records Office of Victoria; and 
  • Managing the regular cycle of Council meetings and briefings.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • A tertiary qualification in law, paralegal or business management (or significant experience in such areas) in a local or State government setting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a supervisory or management position is preferred.
  • A current Victorian car licence is essential.
  • Experience in preparation and monitoring of budgets is essential.
