Job Description
Public Sector People are working with a utilities provider based in The Valley, who are seeking a H&S Specialist on a 4 month contract.
The purpose of the role is to enrich Quality of Life through excellence in water and sewerage services by providing specialist thought leadership and effective health and safety business partnering.

The purpose of the role is to enrich Quality of Life through excellence in water and sewerage services by providing specialist thought leadership and effective health and safety business partnering.
- This is a contract role paying up $55-65 per hour plus super.
- Location Fortitude Valley.
- Start 1st March.
- Identify, develop, and facilitate the implementation of health and safety improvement strategies that support the operationalisation of the corporate H&S Strategy and best practice H&S, and operationalize emerging safety trends.
- With a customer focused mindset, build, maintain and continually strengthen strong relationships with business leaders and front line employees.
- Partner with business leaders to proactively identify future areas of risk, injury, drift and provide regular insights to all levels of the business through trend analysis, interactions, observations, audits and inspections; and identify and recommend systemic improvements arising from the insights.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current control measures and future control measures.
- Train, coach and mentor leaders and team members to interpret, apply and identify systemic improvements in the Safety Management System.
- Facilitate, champion and continually refine the learning processes (i.e. learning teams, appreciative safety investigations, work insights) that seek to narrow the gap between ‘work as imagined’ and ‘the work as done’
- Support the local safety practices of front line teams and participate in safety in design, risk assessment or hazard identification workshops as required.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging trends in health and safety, and role model practical application of theory
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Health & Safety or relevant experience
- 8-10+ years of demonstrated work experience as a safety professional in construction, heavy industry or mining environments
- Sound knowledge of and experience with best practice WHS practices;
- Ability to develop strong, productive partnerships and engage key stakeholders
- Experience in developing and delivering coaching and development activities
