Job Description

Public Sector People (PSP) are currently looking to speak to a Governance & Freedom of Information Officer join a Local Government on a contract.  
  • West Melbourne location but a work from home opportunity
  • Immediate start
  • Local Government experience desirable
  • $42 an hour + super
Key Criteria: 
  • Process Freedom of Information requests received, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and the professional standards.
  • Liaise with applicants, service units, collect, review and assess documentation, and prepare responses and documents for release.
  • Ability to promote ideas and projects relating to Freedom of Information, Privacy, Records, and Information Management functions.
  • Advise on and monitor the organisations compliance with the FOI Act.
  • Need to understand and interpret legislation, work to strict deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.
Requirements Include:

The following qualifications and/or experience are required for the position:
  • Previous experience working FOI legislation is crucial to be successful in these roles and ideally within a government organisation.
  • Demonstrated previous experience interpreting legislation and providing governance support services and advice, particularly regarding the FOI Act.
  • Highly developed written communication skills, able to prepare reports and policy and procedural statements.
  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail is a must.
