Job Description

About the Role:
Public Sector People are seeking experienced Civil Engineers with specialist engineering expertise in the delivery of development assessment and construction inspections. These services will be required within the Moreton Bay Region in accordance with relevant legislation and Council procedures, policies and directives. This is a temporary role commencing in early April on a 6 month contract. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate as a technical expert and provide guidance to team members to achieve required outcomes
  • Provide accurate and timely information and expert advice relating to engineering aspects of development assessment matters
  • Partner with key internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of business processes 
  • Assess complex operational works applications and inspect development construction works 
  • Act as a Council delegate on a variety of development applications, providing professional advice to key stakeholders
  • Responsible for the decision making under delegated authority in the assessment of more complex applications and development assessment matters
Key Skills Required: 
  • Bachelor of Civil Engineering or Associate Diploma (3 year) Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Current C class driver’s licence
  • Relevant experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill set
  • Expert knowledge of engineering and built infrastructure, development issues and legislation
  • Ability to generate innovative, commercially cognisant solutions, and deliver on our commitment of continual improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts and negotiate sustainable outcomes
  • Ability to coach, motivate and influence at all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality customer service
