Job Description

About the role: 
The purpose of this role is the development of civil designs in AutoCAD, including pedestrian, bicycle and traffic engineering solutions. You will be providing civil, landscape, cycling and traffic management advice, design, reporting and consultation on the City’s cycleway projects.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • To deliver specific design projects and investigations to meet City objectives and time frames.
  • Ensure projects are completed to program, within budget, and complying with best practice, best value and quality assurance.
  • Investigate pedestrian, bicycle and traffic engineering issues and produce innovative design solutions to optimise conditions for, pedestrians and cyclists while maintaining access for moving traffic and parked motor vehicles on roadways
  • Provide advice on the cycle network implications of new and major development applications and master plans, construction traffic management plans, temporary road closures and street events.
  • Actively develop and prepare specifications for works required as a result of the City’s Capital Works, Maintenance and Restoration Programs.
  • Prepare, landscape, public domain, cycling, pedestrian and traffic management project concepts, detailed design and associated documentation including Local Area Traffic Management schemes, road hierarchy, and traffic studies, local and urban improvement schemes, construction traffic management plans or other similar projects.
  • Prepare civil construction drawings to meet individual or generic project briefs within time-frames and to current City standards/policies.
  • Provide advice on the cycle network implications of new and major development applications and master plans, construction traffic management plans, temporary road closures and street events.
Skills and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in civil, cycling, traffic and/or landscape design.
  • Class C drivers licence
