About the Role
In this role, you will lead a team to deliver civil design, management of engineering and cadastral survey, graffiti, street lighting, a livestock truck wash and other service-related initiatives. 

  • Drive a proactive risk management approach to ensure risks are identified, quantified and controlled, and that employees, contractors and the community are protected
  • Coordinate and instil a culture of collaboration across different business units to align with organisational objectives.
  • Manage all aspects of the Unit’s business planning and operational requirements, retaining overall accountability for the Unit’s performance.
  • Develop high-level strategic and operational asset management plans and translate those plans into actionable goals and deliverable outcomes.
  • Provide high level, strategic and comprehensive advice to the Manager Engineering Services and Executive Leadership team and engagement and communication with Councillors and the community on current issues and forward plans
About you  

To be successful in this role, you will have experience leading a team in a complex organisation and have proven experience in Civil design, management and developing long term strategic capital works programs. Experience in infrastructure design from both the private sector and the public sector will be considered with equal value.

You can simultaneously work at the strategic level with senior leaders and external stakeholders and at the operational level to successfully deliver outcomes for the City and the municipality.

  • Experience in project, program and contract management, preferably within a civil engineering and/or local government environment
  • Effective and highly developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels
  • High level leadership capability with the ability to foster positive team culture aligned to the organisation purpose and values
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering is essential, specializing in civil infrastructure design principles and practices enabling certification as a Registered Professional Engineer.
