Job Description

Public Sector People are working with a Large Local Government oganisation looking to engage a key member of their Governance and Legal Services Department.

Position purpose:
To provide high level advice, research and policy development on corporate governance to enhance the corporate health of the organisation.
To provide a high level of administrative support and governance services including code of conduct complaints coordination and provide advice on compliance functions within Council to ensure Council meets its statutory obligations.

Experience
  • Experience in preparing reports, policies and correspondence in a local government context
  • Experience in working effectively in a small team to deliver excellent customer service
  • Well-developed rapport, liaison and relationship building with managers and the ability to advise management on governance matters
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and manuals
  • Experience in compliance management, probity advice and internal investigations
  • Experience in implementing projects and initiatives that improve governance systems and procedures
  • Experience in managing staff and coordinating project teams
Qualifications/Licences/Experience/Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience in Local Government
  • Understanding of issues in providing access to Council documents
  • Legal expertise or qualifications
