Job Description

Public Sector People are currently inviting applications for the role of Community Advocacy Officer to join a Council in Melbourne south-eastern suburbs, initially this role would be part time 15 hours per week and will be focused on policy & initiatives around social housing. 

The objective of your role is to contribute to the development, design and implementation of a range of advocacy and integrated social planning activities that will build capacity and inclusion and enhance the health and well being of
the community. 

Key Requirements: 
  • Well developed skills and experience in community consultation and engagement
  • Proven record in advocacy, developing policy, conducting research and social planning
  • Expertise in researching, planning and developing a range of social planning and community development strategies, policies and programs
  • Advocacy, engagement and influencing skills to develop partnerships with business, community and government agencies and lead others to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication
  • An understanding of the social, political and legal frameworks in which Local Government operates,incorporating political acumen to deal with sensitive internal and council issues
