Job Description

Public Sector People (PSP) are currently looking to speak to Communications Advisors to join a Local Government from 1st April for 2 months.

About the role:
  • Band 6 Rate 
  • Local Government experience required
  • Work in Melbourne's outer south east
  • Have a varied and fast pace workload 
Develop, implement and evaluate a broad range of communication/information/public relations strategies, programs and activities.

General Duties Include:
  • Ability to provide specialist media and communications advice to the Mayor, senior management and other staff
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with all internal and external clients/customers
  • Initiative, a ‘can do’ approach to producing outcomes and the ability to manage competing work priorities and projects within strict time frames
  • Ability to create strong communication links among staff and external contacts including the media, designers, printers and other relevant stakeholders and suppliers.
Requirements include:
  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field such as communications, journalism or public relations
  • Post graduate work experience in a public relations/corporate communications or journalism role
  • Relevant previous experience in a local government environment is preferred
