About The Role
Darebin are seeking a highly experienced architect or urban design professional who has the vision, passion and drive to make a difference. In this role, you will assist the council in becoming the leading example for design excellence. You will be expected to lead our efforts to positively transform the built form outcomes in this municipality, working collaboratively with developers and their consultants to transform our City.
As the City Designer, you will increase council’s capabilities to advocate and deliver high-quality architectural and urban design outcomes and offers the opportunity to establish and deliver a vision that will reshape part of Melbourne’s inner north.
This is an incredible opportunity to make this newly created role your own. This position reports directly into the Manager of City Development and sits alongside the Planning team. You will utilize your design expertise to help upskill a team of planning professionals to improve front line advice and internal design assessment capabilities.
As a Senior Officer in Council, this role will provide a real opportunity for you to make a difference. You will receive support from your superiors and Councillors to inspire others to deliver design excellence in Darebin - with you leading from the front!
About You
The successful candidate will be a suitably qualified design professional with a tertiary qualification in Architecture or Urban Design. You will have the ability to reason conceptually and manage external stakeholders at all levels in order to make clear decisions to resolve problems, inspire design outcomes and establish design excellence.
