About the role: 
Public Sector People are seeking an experienced Category Manager with experience across Property and Construction to join our local government client. This role is an immediate requirement and experience with Local Government is not essential, however, at a minimum candidates should understand the requiremens of the Local Government Act with regard to procurement (tendering in particular).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the Category Manager, strategic sourcing as well as assisting in developing category plans across the construction/property spend
  • Contract management and negotiations including modifications
  • Provide advice and guidance to the business across Construction & Infrastructure from a procurement perspective including strategic sourcing, contract management
  • Management of procurement processes, systems and procedures
  • Providing support and key guidance to team members as well as senior management
Key Requirements:
  • Experience in working within a procurement division with a focus on construction/infrastructure, delivering projects
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in supply Chain or business management risk or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in developing effective category and procurement strategies, lead commercial negotiations and manage across the lifecycle
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across different levels
