Job Description

Public Sector People are working with a Local Council in Regional QLD, who are seeking a Building Certifier on a permanent basis. This Council is less than a 3 hour driver from Brisbane CBD, or the Coast. 

The purpose of the role is to provide a service to builders and customers to ensure a high level of service is provided throughout the region. This role is responsible for the assessment of building works and administration of the relevant building regulations, legislation, standards and Codes for the Region. 

This is a Permanent role paying up to $93,000 plus super. Relocation costs of up to $5000 offered. 
  
Responsibilities:
  • Undertaking the role of a Building Certifier as prescribed under the Building Act 1975 ensuring compliance with all relevant Acts, Codes and Regulations
  • Undertaking telephone and counter enquiries, utilisation of Council’s customer request system and the preparation of correspondence associated with Building approvals and agenda items
  • Carrying out necessary inspections and searches on transfer of properties
  • Undertaking pool safety inspections
  • Efficient assessment and preparation of reports on applications for boundary relaxations and bond assessments.
  • The assessment of building applications, including preparation of reports and correspondence, and undertaking all necessary inspections
Required Knowledge / Qualifications:
  • Relevant Diploma of Building Inspection/Diploma of Building Surveying or Advanced Diploma of Building Inspection/Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying or Bachelor of Building Surveying or a course of study which qualifies for accreditation as a Building Certifier at Level 1 or 2.
  • A current OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card
  • The relevant qualifications and Licence in Building Certification (Council will reimburse specialist and or professional licences that are a Council imposed requirement of the position description)
  • A Swimming Pool Safety Inspector Licence issued by the Pool Safety Council
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence
