Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant who is looking to join a busy Finance team at a business who deliver utility services to the Brisbane area.    
 
They are a  stand out company in the industry, and this 4 month contract wont be around for long! 

The Account Assistant you will be responsible for:
  • Complete reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts and other reconciliations as required
  • Complete the daily cash at bank reconciliation and associated investigations and follow up
  • Prepare and enter accrual and adjustment journals to the financial management system
  • Raise projects and work orders in the Ellipse maintenance module
  • Complete employee timesheet re-costing and reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve queries in regards to financial issues including purchasing, work orders and costing processes
  • Produce written communication including reports and other correspondence as required
  • Maintain efficient administration systems and procedures to ensure that the business complies with corporate, legislative and business obligations
  • Represent the Financial and Reporting team on projects as required
To be considered for the role as Account Assistant you will require:
  • Accountancy Degree or studying toward a degree qualification is desirable
  • Significant accounting transactions experience within a large complex organisation
  • Experience in the use of business software including MS Excel and Word processing packages
  • Experience in the use of mainframe accounting software and maintenance of general ledgers. Experience in the use of other accounting software including accounts payable/receivable, cash management and fixed assets is highly desirable
  • Experienced in the preparation of general ledger reconciliations and journals
  • Experience in the preparation of cash at bank reconciliations
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply accrual accounting concepts and a sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
