Principal Urban Planner (Grade 19, $130,579 – $146,253 + 12% Super) 

Blacktown City Council is looking for an accomplished Principal Urban Planner to provide high-level technical expertise and leadership in the preparation of strategic land use planning policies and environmental planning instruments.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop, coordinate and implement strategic planning projects, policies and environmental planning instruments.
  • Provide expert advice on planning legislation and complex development matters.
  • Represent Council in the Land and Environment Court, government hearings, and community consultations.
  • Mentor and guide professional planners within the team.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Urban Planning or related field, with extensive experience in strategic planning.
  • High-level project management, research and analytical capability.
  • Excellent report writing, negotiation and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant planning legislation and statutory instruments.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
