We'd like to give a big, warm Public Sector People welcome to Julianna Carey! A big focus for Public Sector People in 2022 is to grow and develop our brand across Australia and an essential step in achieving this is ensuring we have a team of passionate consultants working together to help further Public Sector People's overall success. Enter Julianna, who has joined the team as our Talent Acquisition Advisor. Julianna will be helping to facilitate this growth and contribute to the well-being of the overall Public Sector People team.​

To find out a little bit more about Julianna and her new role at PSP and her goals moving forward, read below:  

What was it about the company and the role that made you want to work for Public Sector People? 

I met (Managing Directors) Andy and Tom in 2018 and since then I have watched the business grow year on year and I was impressed the organisation always has a plan in place to push the business to new limits. PSP has a passion for providing training programs and a platform for new starters to succeed and I am happy to be a part of the process.

You also have a background in recruitment – can you tell us a little more about how you started within the industry?

I do indeed! I am now coming into my 6th year of recruitment. I came to Australia in 2013 and during my journey, I had firsthand experience with how difficult it was for people from overseas to find the right career support. I have worked in sales since the age of 20 and in 2017 I decided that I would use my experience to support others in finding new career paths and opportunities.

What do you think are the key skills/attitudes people need to succeed in the industry? 

  • A positive and resilient attitude

  • Recruitment is unpredictable so you need to be able to adapt and problem solve

  • Empathy and a passion for helping people. You need to want to communicate and build a relationship with clients and candidates and understand what they want.

What does building trust mean to you? 

Building trust is being able to listen and break down barriers in order to understand someone. My personal relationships and relationships with those around me are what matter to me most. I thrive off being the person that someone trusts to confide in and focus on having a positive impact and doing the right thing by them, through all my interactions and conversations with them. 

What are your key goals moving forward in your new role?

To act as a solid support to our D&B and PSP Managers and Leaders during this growth phase. I'll also be focusing on hiring passionate consultants into the PSP program and watching them succeed in the business.

When you’re not at work where are we most likely to find you? 

Exploring and at the beach with my daughter. I want her to love and appreciate the outdoors, which I didn't have access to growing up in the UK. 

What are you currently watching/listening to/reading? 

I’m currently listening to the podcasts My Therapist Ghosted Me (hilarious) and Kwik Brain with Jim Kwik and probably the same top ten songs on my playlist over and over!
