Can you explain your role at Public Sector People - are there any unique things about recruiting within the Public Sector in Queensland?
I work as a Senior Consultant for Public Sector People, specifically focusing on opportunities within Queensland. Public Sector People have worked with many QLD councils over the years, but in 2019 we moved forward with establishing our first physical branch in Brisbane. As we are growing our footprint here in QLD, it is important that we continue to work with great clients and candidates in the Public Sector. As we continue to grow in size, we ensure we are building trust in the sunny state!
What are the types of positions you recruit for?
My key focus is technical roles. I work across a variety of Construction and Infrastructure roles within Local and State Government clients. These include, but are not limited to: Project Managers, Civil Engineers, Estimators, Facilities and Technical and Contract officers.
You cover a broad range of roles within the Qld region. Are there any specific traits or skills you focus on when speaking to candidates?
I look to engage with candidates who possess technical skillsets which can be of value to my clients in the Public Sector. Candidates with Public Sector experience are also highly regarded as they have the experience and understanding of the systems and processes, ensuring a quick start to the work.
You’ve built some lasting relationships with both clients and candidates while at Public Sector People. Can you explain the key to maintaining and strengthening these connections?
You must be transparent, always. With feedback, with rejections, everything; always ensure you’re communicating with people, clearly, regularly and honestly. I think this is important across any working relationship, and this reinforces a respectful foundation.
What commitment will you make to the active job seekers you choose to work with?
I am always on your side. If you trust me to help you make a decision which affects your career, then you must know you can count on me. I am always one call away to discuss your goals and challenges.
How do you conduct the aftercare process in the roles you recruit for?
I always enjoy chatting, so you will catch me on my phone regularly with my candidates. We touch base often, with calls at least every fortnight to touch base and talk through the role and everything in between.
Currently we have picked up a nice momentum across both state and local government.
