Have you met Siobhan, our newest Public Sector People consultant to join the team? Siobhan specialises in the placement of Technical IT professionals within local government throughout Metro and Regional Victoria.

Let’s hear more about what inspires Siobhan, what makes her laugh and why she hates eels!

1. What motivates you to work hard?

Knowing that I can really help people find meaningful careers and help clients find the best available talent. Also, making that call to a candidate to tell them they’ve been successful really is the best feeling in the world and makes the tough times worthwhile.

2. What is your proudest accomplishment?

I’m part of a dynamite trivia team, we win most Mondays. Not to brag or anything!

3. What makes you laugh the most?

Cats on the internet. Cats in general. They’re just so ridiculous, I love them. If you have some cat videos send them my way!

4. What is your favourite thing about your career?

As a recruiter you can never stop learning. You understand more about people, what makes them tick and how they behave, as well as different role types and what a good candidate looks like. You gain a new understanding of different teams, their diverse projects and build some market insights.
On top of this, you face different challenges, you learn what you can control and what you can’t control. You gain an understanding of influence and its limits, and you learn about relationships. It’s never boring.

5. What is your favourite family tradition?

Following Christmas our family puts on a ‘Turkey Curry Buffet’, the idea is stolen from the film Bridget Jones’ Diary. There’s something about glorified leftovers that makes it really special. We quote the movie a lot and have a ball.

6. Who is your hero?

Keanu Reeves probably, just for being such a nice down-to-earth guy despite all of his fame.

7. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mum’s Turkey Curry (from the Turkey Curry Buffet), it’s delectable.

8. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

I’d live in Japan, in a futuristic city apartment surrounded by neon lights and robots.

9. What is your biggest fear?

Eels - they’re disgusting and I can’t accept their continued existence in this world. The way they move, and their grumpy evil faces *shudders* disgusting!

10. What's the hottest job you're recruiting right now?

A Cyber Security Specialist! It’s very exciting actually, and I’m meeting some incredibly smart candidates.
